This week we all started to finally get back into the groove of things. We have been practicing our art skills as we work on drawing fruit for specimen and mood influenced tempera paintings. We have all been trying to finish the final touches on our math PowerPoint’s. The PowerPoint’s were about all different kinds of math history, and real world connections to math, and we worked with partners. We have also been playing with a few miniature cars, as we try to figure out the scale of the miniature cars to the real ones. It is nice to see some new unit projects up around the classroom; it really brightens up the room.
Today, we went to the Gathering Place, a day shelter for struggling women and children. We had a tour so that we could see the newly remodeled building; it was great to see all the improvements that were made and reflect on what the old building was like. We are looking forward to starting to volunteer there, two to four of us will go every other Friday, throughout the year. We can't wait to volunteer there, and we hope that you will donate to the women and children spending their time there. Some names are also getting tossed around as we anticipate making our “moles”, stuffed moles we hope may join some of the other moles in our classroom, made by max's former students.
