After returning from our relaxing Thanksgiving break, school is back in swing. This week is the first full week we have had for two weeks, and thus our agendas are back to being full. Included in this week’s assignments are rewrites on our short fictional stories, “Puzzlemaster Puzzles,” a worksheet of word puzzles, the preliminary research for our Famous People assignment, an art project which corresponds with the Famous People assignment, and a particularly challenging Specimen.
The Famous People and the Power of Their Words project is a multi-stage and multi-week assignment, thats main focus is to research and write an essay concerning a famous person, and how their words affected the world. This week’s part of the project is to do preliminary research on our given famous person. The people that we are studying were assigned randomly. They range from Helen Keller, to John F. Kennedy, to Yitzhak Rabin. Of course, as this is a Logan assignment, there must be a catch. The catch is that we are not allowed to use the Internet as a resource. In light of this, students have been rushing to libraries to find the best resources, as soon as possible.
After collecting what we hope won’t be the last of the UNICEF donations, all of the money has finally been counted! Combining cash and coins, the UNICEF crew, Max’s Class, and the rest of Logan has raised over $1,300!
One of the most challenging assignments we have this week is our Specimen. In a large effort to throw an project at us that would take quite a bit of thought, Max has given us a piece of coral. Which has many aggravating little arms, making it a nightmare to draw.
